Stubborn Girl

Matt and I went up to Williamstown Saturday. We had a good time just hanging out. Peggy, Josh, Matt, and I went out to eat at Tampico...it was so yummy! Peggy found a Mother's Day card from Matt that really cracked me up. The inside read, "Mom, I love you because you buy me things like Game Boy games. I'll love you no matter what you buy me". Nice to see he hasn't changed a bit! haha! I keep teasing him about it! Before bedtime, Daddy and Madison played their favorite game. Sometimes when we lay down to go to sleep, Matt will put his hand on my belly and Madison will just push and wiggle and then Matt will push and poke her back. It's so funny because she'll play along as long as he does. It's too cute!

On Sunday, Peggy and Jennifer hosted a baby shower for Baby Madison. It was fun and we laughed so much! We played this Mad Lib game and I laughed so hard that I cried. If my story comes true, I'll have some pretty severe contractions in my hand which will let me know I'm in labor. Oh, and then I'll go to the bathroom and eat to try to distract myself from the pain! If Matt's story comes true, Madison will be delivered at Wal-Mart!

We went for our ultrasound this morning. Of course, Miss Madison was her stubborn self again. She wasn't really pressed up against the placenta like she usually is. Instead, she had both of her arms crossed in front of her face. Once she turned her head, but as soon as the tech tried to get a 3d shot of her she turned her face back toward her arms. We did get to see a little bit of her mouth and nose though. She kept puckering her lips (kind of like she was making kissy faces)! We also got to see her practicing her breathing! It was amazing!

After the ultrasound, we went over to the hospital to see Dr. Dawley. Everything is still going really well! Dr. Dawley did mention that Madison "is really down there"...haha. She's really dropped a lot in the last week or so...looks like our baby girl is moving into position. We can't wait to hold her!

Baby Shower #2

Aimee, Angela, and Sarah hosted Baby Shower #2 in Cross Lanes last Saturday. It was such a great time. Once again, we received so many beautiful and useful gifts. We are so blessed to have such amazing people in our lives, and I'm so thankful that these same people will be such a big part of Madison's life.

Here are some pictures from the shower. I'll probably be posting more soon!

Mommy and Madison at 32 weeks

Loved the bright cake!

Love these girls!

I'm not sure why he's making this face...haha

Southern WV Girls....Tia and Me!

33 Weeks!

I can't believe I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow, but I also can't believe my due date is still 7 weeks away!

This past week marked the beginning of our ultrasound on Mondays and non-stress test on Thursdays schedule. Both went really well! I was a little nervous (okay, a lot) after the ultrasound because the tech checked my fluid twice. I just thought she acted strange...and I have to admit I got upset. I swore that I would not be one of those pregnant women that get all worked up and constantly thinks something is wrong. And I hope that because my worries are legitimate, I'm not one of them! haha. I mentioned my concern to Dr. Dawley at my regular appointment after the ultrasound. She called the perinatal center to check on my fluid levels and they were okay! I was so relieved.

They attempted to get better 3D shots of Miss Madison, but she still refused to cooperate. As you can see, her little face was still blocked by the placenta. The tech said she just stays up against my uterine wall, which would explain why I constantly feel like she's head-butting me!

I love this one of her feet...her ankles are crossed!

Madison's Profile

The non-stress test on Thursday was actually kind of fun. I enjoyed listening to her little heart. It was so amazing to actually hear her respond to our voices...and when I'd laugh, her heart would go crazy! The tech said that I should probably drink a coke before the test because Madison wasn't quite as active as they would have liked....too bad they can't do the test at night. I hope her current nightly routine isn't an indication of what's in store for us!

Big Girls Sit in the Big Girl Chair

We went yesterday for my appointment with my regular doctor. She ordered some blood tests in order to make sure I don't have toxemia. After my appointment, Matt and I went to the lab. While sitting in the waiting area, I told him I wanted to try to sit in one of the regular chairs in the lab instead of the reclining chair that I usually sit in. When they called my name, we went in and I didn't even mention my past experiences with having my blood taken (passing out, seizures, etc.). I usually try to warn the person taking my blood, just in case something were to happen - but I had already decided that I was going to be just fine, so I didn't even say anything. When I sat down in the chair, Matt looked at me and said, "Are you sure?" "Yep!" I replied. When it was over, I just hopped up and was ready to go. Usually, I sit in the reclining chair for awhile to make sure I'm okay. I really did it! I was so proud of me...and I think Matt was too. I think I really surprised him. I called Momma afterward to tell her about what a big girl I was! :-)

In other news, Madison now makes my belly dance! haha! Sunday night, Matt and I were sitting on the couch. He was watching tv and I was reading a book. Madison must not have been pleased with me resting my book on my belly, because she kept making the book bounce up and down. I decided to pull my shirt up a little to see if we could actually see my belly moving. Sure enough, we could! It was so funny seeing it move up and down and side to side. We laughed so hard! I loved it!

Forgive me blog

...for I have strayed. It has been 2 weeks since my last post.

The last 2 weeks have kind of been a blur, and I'm not quite sure why. We've been a little busy...and I've also been really tired. But when I look back on the last 2 weeks, I'm not really even sure what we've been up to. Maybe I'll try to remember in reverse order...

Yesterday I tagged along with Matt, Jennifer, and Peggy to Winterplace. Matt and Jennifer snowboarded while Peggy and I attempted to stay warm in the lodge. I took care of a few "thank you" cards and started reading a book...but I have to admit that I spent a lot of time looking for Matt to come back down the slope. It was nice just watching him do something he enjoys. It was the same feeling I get watching him play golf. I don't know why, but I just love watching him do something he loves.

Friday was Peggy's birthday. We went out to eat at Cracker Barrel to celebrate. My food wasn't quite as good as I wanted it to be, but it was nice to eat fish! I never eat it at home because Matt hates fish.

The past week I spent working and Matt spent painting the kitchen/dining room. The color is definitely brighter than we had hoped it would be. I've decided that we're terrible at picking out paint colors. They never quite turn out they way we think they will. The only room in our house that's been painted that we've been 100% satisfied with is Madison's room. "Why?", you ask....because my mom picked out the paint colors. haha. I think I'm okay with the kitchen...it's just a little neon. lol. But it's bright, so it makes me happy...I just think other people are going to be a little shocked by it.

This past Monday I had an appointment at the hypertension clinic. I usually just see the nurse, and she hooks me up to their special machine (I have no idea what it's called) and it measures my cardiac output. My cardiac output is still on the high side, even though they doubled my dosage of medication. She asked if I could stick around to see the doctor. Of course, I said yes. I was getting a little nervous, but it all turned out okay. Dr. Chafin said that with my cardiac output being as high as it is, he would expect our baby girl to be underweight. However, she's perfectly average and growing just as she should be. He said he didn't feel that there was any need to adjust my medication as long as she's doing okay.

On Tuesday of last week, Matt came down to Logan and spent the night with me at the Lodge. We met my parents at Hacienda for dinner. We laughed so much! I love spending time with my parents. After dinner, Matt and I headed back to our room and watched American Idol. I think it drives Matt crazy that I've influenced him to watch a lot more tv. I probably do watch way too much. It's weird, because there was a time where I barely watched tv at all. Maybe Aimee influenced me to watch way too much. haha. Anyway...after Idol, we just walked around the hotel a little bit because I was terribly swollen. We walked down to the pool and I sat with my feet in the water. It felt so nice, and I just kept wishing we had packed our swimsuits!

Last weekend, my mom and aunts hosted my baby shower in Man. I absolutely loved it! I left there completely exhausted, but I had such a great time. I just loved seeing everyone! We received so many beautiful and useful gifts for Madison too! Matt and I spent that Sunday organizing everything and putting it away. Madison seriously has a TON of clothes, which is great for me because I LOVE clothes! I'm just hoping she actually gets to wear them all!

Here are some pics from the shower.

I adored these little elephants!

Candace and me...I hadn't seen her in way too long.

Aims and me

I saw my doctor last on the 2nd. She said that everything still seems to be going really well. I see her again tomorrow. I'm definitely going to talk to her about the problem I've been having with swelling. I honestly feel like I'm at least 2 times bigger because of it! It's actually really painful too! I know that there's nothing that can really be done about it, but I also know that it's a sign of preeclampsia and with my blood pressure problems, I figure she'll want to know.

All in all, we're doing great! Matt and I are just so anxious about Madison's arrival. We're just ready for her...well, almost. There are still a few things we need. However, we know it doesn't matter how ready we are. We have to wait until she's ready...and, of course, that's what we want. Matt had a dream about her last night. I was so jealous when he told me about it this morning, because I've never actually "seen" her in my dreams. I've had plenty of dreams about her...but I can never see her. We laughed for awhile about his dream because in it, he needed to take Madison somewhere but he didn't have a car - only a bicycle with a basket on the front! Our dreams about her are always so funny!

29 weeks

Matt, Belly, and I went for maternity portraits yesterday. They were actually a lot of fun. Our photographer had some really cute ideas, and I'm so anxious to see the pictures. She was so easygoing and I really enjoyed our "photo shoot"! haha. I can't wait to see the finished photos. They should be ready to view online in 4-6 weeks, and the actual proofs will be ready about a week after they are online.

Matt's mom and sister came down and spent some time with us this weekend. We all went to see Slumdog Millionaire last night. I loved it! Matt seemed to like it pretty well too.

We've both been a little sick - seems to just be a cold. However, Matt's in much worse shape than I am. Thank you prenatal vitamins! Matt is really congested and his poor nose won't stop running. My throat and ears seem to be my only problem areas...I'm hoping I don't get worse.

We decorated Madison's walls a little more. Matt's Aunt Darlena sent these adorable blocks that spell her name and we hung those over her crib. I absolutely adore them! We also put some appliques up on the wall. Her room is still my favorite room in our home!

We've been watching this show on TLC called "Bringing Home Baby". It's kind of interesting to see people's stories about their first 36 hours at home with a new baby....although most of the parents on the show don't seem very "normal". haha! I think our main concern is our kitty girls...okay, maybe just Adele. We're hoping they adjust okay.
